ENERGIE is a family company which was originally called Lar Bombas to meet a market need for hydraulic components. This market soon became competitive which did not allow the capacity and ambition of the company founders to progress.

Founded in 1981, ENERGIE stands out for excellence and innovation in the manufacture of its products and the services it provides its clients. The reliability and efficiency demonstrated throughout the years have made ENERGIE into a solid corporation with a product of recognized quality and robustness.

Our visionary approach soon led us to commit to renewable, environmentally friendly energies at a time when ecological language and concerns were almost unknown. The solar energy systems commercialised initially were the traditional ones: they only worked when the sun was out and for heating up water. The poor quality of the materials, the recurring problems which arose and the poor return on the investment made led to the growing dissatisfaction of clients of these products. It seemed that it would not be possible to put into effect what we believed in.

The dissatisfaction of our clients resulted in our own dissatisfaction. In our quest for solutions we came across two incomplete technologies in France: traditional solar energy and the heat pump. The purchase of the patent for this technology gave rise in 1990 to the birth of Thermodynamic Solar Energy, to be precise ENERGIE. At this time we started manufacturing this system and today ENERGIE is a brand which is patented and registered worldwide and is wholly Portuguese owned.

At present, the high-quality, innovative processes and products in the field of thermodynamic solar energy are recognised worldwide.

1981: The company was founded in the city of Póvoa de Varzim, Portugal.

1986: Formation of the private limited company called Lar Bombas, Lda.

1990: Registration of the world technology patent.

2000: Creation of the Research and Development Centre (R&D). ENERGIE works alongside some of the most prestigious national and international Universities and Research Centres in the field of solar energy.

2001: Globalisation of the company. Start of international market prospecting. The first exports occurred in 2003 to the Spanish market.

2002: New premises in the Industrial Area of Laúndos.

2003: Creation of training centre for ENERGIE installers.

2007: Second industrial complex with the capacity to produce 33 thousand Thermodynamic Solar Panels a year.

The company name changes to the brand name – ENERGIE EST Lda.

2008: Recognition of status as an SME Leader.

2009: Obtained quality management system certificate ISO 9001 issued by TUV Rheinland. Recognition of status as an SME Leader and SME Excellence.

2010: Recognition of status as an SME Leader and SME Excellence. Operating in 30 countries.

2011: Commemoration of 30 years of ENERGIE.
